The Certified Intelligence Professional (CIP) certification is the most comprehensive professional certification available for the competitive and strategic analyst. It is offered jointly by the Fuld-Gilad-Herring Academy of Competitive Intelligence (ACI) and the Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) society.
It is the only program authorized by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET), the leading external accreditation body in continuing education, to offer continuing education units (CEUs) in competitive and strategic analysis. The IACET accredits such learning institutions as the American Society for Quality, Bell Leadership, the Center for Professional Advancement, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Council of Education in Management, and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
The program focuses on legal, ethical, and fully-compliant methods of data collection as well as advanced techniques for interpretation, analysis, and understanding. The hands-on training exercises are rigorous and mimic real-world dynamics and conditions. The strategic analysis models cover entire industries, immediate competitors, and specific strategy development as well as future-proofing and blindspot detection.
Competitive analysis training develops skills which are at the core of managing in a competitive setting. Most managers are knowledgeable of the basic techniques of business. The majority have higher education. But college textbooks do not teach “street smarts.” MBAs do not teach how to figure out what your competitors are going to do to your beautiful plans once you try and execute them. Many seasoned salespeople experienced in gathering bits and pieces about the competition are clueless about what to do with that information or how to filter “white noise” and gain a true insight into the working of their market. Competitive analysis training is for people who compete.
ACI instructors have extensive professional and academic backgrounds, have authored numerous articles, books, and papers on competitive analysis, and actively work in the strategic analysis field for major corporations worldwide. Graduates of the CIP program run the majority of competitive intelligence units in the Fortune 500. In addition, ACI founder Ben Gilad is the originator of the Business War Gaming concept and remains its leading practitioner.
